The Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Delta State Contributory Health Commission, Dr. Isaac Akpoveta, has called for more collaboration among stakeholders and partners in the healthcare sector, as the state continues its drive to achieve Inclusive Health for residents.
Dr. Akpoveta made the call while playing host to members of the Delta State Health Partners Forum, who paid an advocacy visit to the Commission’s headquarters in Asaba.
The DG commended the forum, which is a coalition of various health-focused organizations and stakeholders within Delta State, for their investment in the health of Deltans, noting that the Delta State Government, led by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, has remained committed to achieving health for all Deltans.
He informed them that the state government has approved the testing of hepatitis infection for pregnant women in the state, adding that the Commission would soon clear all backlogs of payments as soon as funds are made available.
While urging the forum to key into the various initiatives of the Commission, Dr. Akpoveta reiterated the readiness of the Commission to partner with individuals and groups that support providing a more robust and effective healthcare system.
The State Coordinator of the World Health Organization, Dr. David Kajovo; the State Program Manager of Excellence Community Education Welfare Scheme (ECEWS), Mr. Henry Udenenwu; the representative of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), Dumebi Nkenchor-Achuzia; and Mrs. Momah Mercy of the Society for Family Health, said the visit was to inform the DG about the activities of the Forum and to explore potential areas of collaboration.
