The Delta Online Publishers Forum (DOPF) has called for strong collaboration and strategic partnerships with key stakeholders ahead of its planned celebration of the International Women’s Day (IWD) 2026 in Delta State.

The forum said the initiative is part of its commitment to promoting women’s empowerment and strengthening advocacy for gender equality through digital media engagement.

According to a statement released by the forum, the event is scheduled to hold on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at No. 12 Uchenna Okolo Street, opposite St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Asaba.

The programme will feature Mrs. Patricia Gbemudu, former Chairperson of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), who will deliver the keynote address.

The organisers disclosed that the 2026 celebration will be anchored on the theme “Give to Gain: Empowering Women through Digital Storytelling,” aligning with the global message “Give to Gain” and the campaign slogan “When we give, we gain.”

DOPF explained that the theme promotes a culture of generosity, collaboration, and intentional support aimed at advancing the welfare of women and girls.

The campaign encourages individuals, organisations, and communities to contribute meaningfully through donations, mentorship, knowledge-sharing, advocacy, visibility, and capacity-building initiatives.

The forum further noted that the “Give to Gain” initiative underscores the power of giving from the heart, stressing that acts of generosity create positive ripple effects that strengthen families, empower communities, and contribute to societal development.

Organisers added that the celebration will focus on several priority areas, including women’s empowerment, support for women-focused nonprofit organisations, promotion of initiatives advancing women’s rights, and the challenge of stereotypes, discrimination, and gender bias.

DOPF also observed that International Women’s Day has evolved into one of the world’s most influential platforms for advocacy and charitable engagement, providing opportunities for individuals and organisations to support programmes that improve the lives of women and girls globally.

As part of the activities lined up for the 2026 celebration, the forum will host a “Give to Gain” Impact Conference, recognise outstanding women and nonprofit organisations, and launch coordinated media advocacy campaigns across Delta-based digital platforms.

The programme will also feature public engagement initiatives designed to encourage broader support for women-focused causes, including collaborations with grassroots organisations and girl-child advocacy groups.

The forum emphasised that the active participation of government institutions, community leaders, civil society organisations, and development partners will be crucial in expanding the reach and impact of the campaign.

According to DOPF, wider stakeholder involvement will help inspire more Deltans to embrace a culture of generosity and collective responsibility in promoting the advancement of women and girls.
“When women rise, society rises,” the statement concluded.

The statement was signed by Josephine Omodior, Secretary of the Committee for the 2026 International Women’s Day celebration.
