Delta Waste Management Board Sustains Sanitation Drive Along Old Lagos–Asaba Road, Agbor

The Delta State Waste Management Board (DSWMB) has continued its commitment to environmental cleanliness and public health with a routine evacuation of refuse dumps along the median kerbs of the Old Lagos–Asaba Road in Agbor, Ika south local government area of the State.

The sanitation exercise, carried out on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, saw teams of the Board deployed to strategic points along the busy corridor, ensuring the prompt removal of accumulated waste and restoring order to areas affected by indiscriminate dumping.

The operation was further extended to clear massive waste dumps around Niugbo Street, also located along the Old Lagos–Asaba Road axis.

The intervention significantly improved the aesthetics of the environment and eased vehicular and pedestrian movement in the area.

Speaking during the exercise, the Chairman of the Delta State Waste Management Board, Hon. Matthew Mofe Edema, reaffirmed the Board’s resolve to sustain regular waste evacuation across the state in line with the Delta State Government’s environmental sanitation policy.

According to him, routine waste evacuation remains critical to preventing environmental hazards, controlling the spread of disease, and promoting a clean and healthy living environment for residents.

Hon. Edema urged residents and traders within the Agbor metropolis to support the Board’s efforts by adhering strictly to approved waste disposal practices and refraining from dumping refuse on road medians and public spaces.

The Delta State Waste Management Board assured that similar sanitation exercises will continue across major roads and communities in the state as part of ongoing efforts to enhance environmental sustainability and improve the quality of life of Deltans.
