The Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Mr. Nkem Nwaeke, has reaffirmed the commitment of the 8th Assembly, under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, to promoting effective legislation and good governance in Delta State.
Mr. Nwaeke made this statement while reacting to the recent honor bestowed on his principal by the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council. Rt. Hon. Guwor was recognized with the “Most Outstanding Steward in Legislative Business” award, a testament to his exemplary leadership in the Assembly.
Describing the award as a well-deserved recognition, Nwaeke highlighted the Speaker’s remarkable achievements since the inauguration of the 8th Delta State Assembly on June 13, 2023.
He noted that Rt. Hon. Guwor has remained steadfast in consolidating past legislative gains while introducing innovative approaches to result-oriented lawmaking and fostering collaboration among stakeholders in the state legislature.
“As the Presiding Officer of the House, Mr. Speaker has ensured that the three core functions of the legislature, Lawmaking, Representation, and Oversight, remain paramount.
His leadership continues to provide the needed direction for Members to effectively discharge their duties,” Nwaeke stated.
Acknowledging NUJ’s role in promoting excellence in governance, the CPS expressed gratitude to the Delta State Council for recognizing Guwor’s contributions.
He emphasized that the “Most Outstanding Steward in Legislative Business, 2024” award is a significant honor that reinforces the Speaker’s dedication to driving positive change in Delta State.
Nwaeke further stated that the award is a clear reflection of the Union’s confidence in Guwor’s leadership and assured that the Delta State House of Assembly will remain focused on serving the people through impactful legislation.
On behalf of the Speaker’s aides, Nwaeke congratulated Rt. Hon. Guwor on this remarkable achievement, noting that it is a well-earned recognition of his hard work, both as the Speaker of the Delta State Assembly and as a National Officer of the Conference of State Houses of Assembly in Nigeria.
