The Delta State Ministry of Technical Education has announced the redeployment of Mrs. Rosemary Itawansa, Principal of Sapele Technical College, following significant administrative and disciplinary violations.
In a formal communication addressed to the Permanent Secretary, Directors, and all Principals of Delta State Technical Colleges, the Ministry outlined the findings from a monitoring exercise conducted on January 6, 2026.
This assessment aimed to evaluate compliance with the resumption of second-term academic activities at Sapele Technical College but uncovered several concerning issues.
The inspection, carried out at approximately 7:26 a.m., identified critical lapses, including the absence of security personnel at the school entrance, an unkempt environment, and unauthorized activities on campus, such as farming and wood milling.
Additionally, the college was reported to be charging excessive fees to students, failing to adhere to the approved teaching guidelines for trade courses, demonstrating inadequate administrative oversight, and facilitating the presence of “ghost” National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members assigned to the institution.
The Ministry noted that Mrs. Itawansa had previously received multiple verbal warnings regarding her management of the college but had not implemented necessary improvements.
Furthermore, despite a formal directive issued on January 19, 2024, to transfer her to Model Technical College, Obiaruku, she reportedly disregarded this instruction, citing political commitments in her response to a subsequent query.
As a result of these ongoing deficiencies, the Ministry has initiated the formal redeployment of Mrs. Itawansa from Sapele Technical College to the Ministry of Technical Education in Asaba for further assignment.
She is to hand over her responsibilities to the most senior teacher and is expected to report to the Ministry on Monday, January 19, 2026.
The Ministry remains committed to upholding high standards of discipline, accountability, and professionalism in all technical colleges within the state, firmly stating that insubordination and administrative misconduct will not be tolerated.
