Southern Delta University, Ozoro, formerly known as Delta State University of Science and Technology, Ozoro, Isoko north local government area of the State has relocated eight of its academic departments under the Faculty of Administration and Management Sciences to its Orerokpe campus, the administrative headquarter of Okpe local government area.
It was gathered that the decision followed a Senate meeting held by the university’s management, during which it was resolved that, effective September 2025, both staff and students in the affected departments will be required to move from the main campus in Ozoro to the newly designated Orerokpe site.
Similarly, it was reliably learnt that the university has officially appointed Professor Akpovghaye Taiga as the Provost of the Orerokpe Campus, signaling a firm administrative and academic presence in the region.
Departments Affected by the Relocation:
The following departments under the Faculty of Administration and Management Sciences are to be fully operational at Orerokpe beginning the new academic session: Accounting, Banking & Finance, Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Office & Information Management, Public Administration and Transport & Marine Management
University authorities have urged parents, guardians, and students to take immediate note of this development and act accordingly.
“If your child or ward is a student in any of the listed departments, do not renew house rent in Ozoro.
Instead, begin early preparations to secure accommodation in Orerokpe,” the advisory read.
It was learnt that the move is part of the broader vision to expand the university’s footprint, decongest the Ozoro campus, and bring higher education closer to surrounding communities.
However, it also raises immediate logistical concerns for students and staff, especially around housing, transportation, and campus facilities.
While the university’s management is expected to provide further clarification and support mechanisms in the coming weeks, stakeholders are advised to stay alert and prepare adequately for a smooth transition.
