She gave the commendation at the empowernment programme organized by Macaulay Foundation at Owhelogbo in Isoko north local government area of the state.
The wife of the governor, Dame Okowa, represented by the member representing Oshimili north in the Delta State House of Assembly (DTHA), Hon. Princess Pat Ajudua, said the gesture of Ovuozourie Macaulay clearly fits into the mission of her 0’5 Initiative programme, which is, touching and reaching out to the needy.
She said that Christmas is a time to show love to one another, urging the rich to always lend a helping hand to the downtrodden.
The Governor’s wife called on other notable Deltans to emulate the philanthropy of Chief Ovuozourie Macaulay.
Some dignitaries at the event including Clergymen, traditional leaders and politicians scored Ovuozourie Macaulay high in terms of caring for the needy.
For the philanthropist, Chief Ovuozourie Macaulay, it is good to always appreciate God for his mercies.
He said he has been taking care of widows over the years because he could feel their pains having had harrowing experience when he lost his father at a tender age.
The widows and orphans thanked the Macaulay’s family for remembering them this Christmas Season like always.
The joy and prayers of the widows knew no bounds as they were handed bags of rice, condiments, wrappers and cash gifts.
The Orphans were presented with foodstuff and other materials.
Over 400 widows and orphans were empowered at the event.
