In a statement signed by the Chairman of the Council and Obi of Owa, Dr Emmanuel Efeizomor II, the monarchs showed deep concern over the magnitude of the explosion and condoled with the immediate families of the deceased persons.
”At this very trying moment, we share in your pains and grief with you and pray that God in His infinite mercy will accept the souls of the departed”.
While describing the incident as unfortunate, the monarchs urged the state government to ensure that the surviving victims of the disaster got the best medical attention.
The statement also enjoined the state government to strictly enforce town planning regulations as is the case in developed climes all over the world.
The traditional rulers called for appropriate regulations to make compulsory for gas and petrol filling stations to be located in non residential areas to forestall a reoccurrence of such incidents in future.
The Royal fathers urged public spirited individuals to come to the aid of the victims to compliment the donation already made by state Government and kind hearted Deltans in line with the appeal by the ONU IKA Collective Leadership.
