As a new executive of Oviri-Olomu under the leadership of Chief John Ewenede takes over the leadership role of the community, the executive took a giant step by ensuring that all factions during the leadership tussle were reconciled.
At a well attended and elaborate meeting of the exco, elders, woman and youths of the community, held at the community hall, all factions agreed to work together for the general interest and development of the community.
Speaking on behalf of the exco, the President General, Chief John Ewenede, said that the meeting was called to thank the elders and inform them that the exco had resolved to give peace a chance, and that all factions should seized to exist henceforth.
He emphasized that as humans and even animals, quarrel was bound to happen, emphasizing the sooner it was resolved the better, and that if the issue was not resolved it would be impossible to come together to discuss the progress of the community.
He advised and warned that anyone who chooses to fight or quarrels for such reason as to supporting any of the leaders would be doing that to his or her own detriment, stressing that the exco was now one and united.
The president general disclosed that peace and reconciliation committee would be set up to reach out to other aggrieved persons of the community for a wholistic resolution of the crisis, which he said, would be followed by general thanksgiving to God that no life was lost during the crisis.
Reacting, the spokesperson to the community, Chief Friday Akporehe, commended the exco for the peace initiative and assured them that everyone was ready to embrace it.
Similarly, the Oviri-Olomu Exco led by Chief John Ewenede, had set up agenda for the overall development of the community.
Ewenede, who reeled out his programs for the community at the venue of the meeting, said that education was uppermost to his administration and promised to work for the creation of another primary school in the community.
He said as the population kept increasing, followed by expansion, there was need to have additional primary school to accommodate the community’s population growth.

The president general also harped on security and warned that anyone found fighting with dangerous weapons, stealing, committing rape or breaking into somebody’s house would be fined the sum of 25,000, after which the person would be handed over to law enforcement agency for prosecution.
He further warned those who are using dangerous chemicals on lakes to kill aquatic creatures in the name of fishing to desist from such act, and a fine of N100,000 was equally placed on anyone caught.
Other committees that would be set up, according to him, included Urban Renewal Committee, Social Responsibilities Committee, Asset and Money Recovery Committee, Welfare and Transport Committee and Physical Structure Committee.
