Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State on Friday converged at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Asaba, for a strategic stakeholders’ meeting focused on party unity, electronic registration, grassroots mobilisation and preparedness ahead of the forthcoming congresses.

Addressing party leaders and members, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori underscored that leadership derives its legitimacy from the people and must be anchored on humility, empathy and service.

He urged stakeholders to place collective interest above personal ambitions, warning that internal division and avoidable conflicts could weaken the party.

Governor Oborevwori described unity as the APC’s strongest asset, noting that such engagements provide an opportunity to review progress, strengthen party structures and prepare for critical political milestones.

He added that effective mobilisation, registration and active participation would ultimately shape electoral outcomes.

While charging stakeholders to deliver overwhelming electoral support for President Bola Tinubu and other APC candidates in the 2027 general elections, the governor said the volume of votes delivered by the party would determine its political relevance and bargaining strength at the federal level.

Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, called on party members to remain focused as the congresses approach, commending the progress recorded in the e-registration exercise and the increasing diversity within the party.

He cautioned against rumours and unnecessary delays, advocated early engagement and consensus-building at the grassroots, and urged dialogue as a tool for managing tensions.

Former Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege, thanked Governor Oborevwori for convening the meeting, describing his presence at Government House after many years as a powerful symbol of inclusiveness.

He pledged to work in unity with the governor and other stakeholders to further strengthen the APC in the state.

Former Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa, praised stakeholders for their unity and sustained engagement, urging intensified grassroots mobilisation to deepen e-registration by taking the exercise directly to homes and communities.

He emphasised inclusiveness and consensus in the conduct of the congresses, commending Governor Oborevwori’s role in fostering harmony and encouraging leaders to return to their constituencies with renewed commitment.

National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Felix Morka, lauded the governor’s leadership and the digitalisation of the party’s membership register, recommending a consensus-driven approach for the forthcoming congresses.

In his welcome address, State APC Chairman, Omeni Sobotie, disclosed that the party had recorded over 90 per cent realignment since April 2025, describing the meeting as clear evidence of growing unity and momentum.

Speaking on e-registration and congress preparations, Delta North APC Chairman, Adizue Eluaka, reported peace in the district while noting challenges with registration. Delta Central Chairman, Paulinus Akpeki, said Okpe Local Government was leading statewide in registrations and appealed for restraint pending official guidelines.

Delta South Chairman, Austin Oribioye, called for urgent resolution of technical glitches to enable the district meet its targets.

State E-Registration Coordinator, Fred Mordi, revealed that Delta State was selected to host the South-South zonal training, noting steady increases in registration figures despite minor challenges and expressing confidence that the state would meet its target before the deadline.

The meeting observed a minute of silence in honour of the late Peter Nwaoboshi, who represented Delta North Senatorial District in the Senate.
