In order to fully involve religious groups with emphasis on Christians and Muslims, governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi, promised to create the Ministry of Religious Affairs, come 2023.

The former minister of State for education, gave the assurance on Saturday July 23rd 2022, during a fellowship lunch with great men of God at his Oginibo country home, Ughelli south local government area of the state.

Gbagi, a devoted Christian of the Catholic faith, had assured the over 3, 000 worshippers drawn from various denominations that the religious bodies in the state would be carried along and made part and parcel of his government.

While charging them to remain resilient in actualizing the vision of reclaiming the state, he said he would never depart from the faith.

“Men of God, I hold you responsible. I promise that I will never depart from my faith with God.

“I undertake for the Church that we will establish a religious ministry in Delta State and I will not do anything that is not righteous of God because the men of God around me will not even allow me to do so.

“I cannot at this time do bad or do anything less than developing the state”, Gbagi declared.

Earlier, Bishop Dr Jude Akhere, of Pasture of Life International Church, Archbishop Jonathan Arhawanrien, Saint Lazarus Church of God, Rev. Goodwill Adogho of Word of Grace Ministries, Bishop Dr Thomas Ofudje, Pastor Chima Israel, Bishop Philip Abulimehen, Rev. John Okiti among others task Gbagi on the need for the Church to play major role in his administration.
