Mothers have been warned to stop inhuman treatments on their maids and those living with them as it is their responsibilities to care for them.

Wife of the Delta state governor, Dame Edith Okowa, gave the warning on Monday 9th November 2020, at the World Orphans Day Celebration, held in Government House, Asaba.

According to her, “We should be mindful of the way we treat other people’s children because we will not always be where our children are”, she stressed.

The Founder, 0’5 Initiative, disclosed that for the past five years, the initiative has worked with Care Givers in registered orphanges across the state, regretting that the year 2020, introduced a new life due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

“But it has not stopped us from attending regularly to the needs of our children at the orphanages”.

The wife of the governor doled out rich food items on 48 registered orphanges and five adopted families that she and her team have continued to assist in the past five years.

“This year’s celebration will not be different, provision has been made for 48 registered Orphanages and five adopted families including the Quintuplet – five girls. This is in fulfilment of our mission to feed the hungry and provide shelter for the homeless”.

While appreciating Care Givers for their constant love and care for the children, she acknowledged that the task was huge, urging them to keep up the good work.

“Do not forget to teach them in the way and fear of the Lord. Your labour of love will be rewarded in due season”, just as she revealed that the issue of care of Orphans is of immense importance to them at 0’5 Initiative.

Hear her: “Look around, there is a helpless child who needs love, I plead with you to sow the seed of kindness, by this, you are paving an easy path for your own children. Go the extra mile, give that child many reasons to live”, Mama Delta, as she is fondly called, admonished.

Speaking in an interview, the woman with a heart of gold, noted that the word and grace of God as written in Matthew 25: 35-36, are her driving force.

She tasked the care givers to extend a hand of fellowship to other children around them who finds it difficult to feed just as she called on well-meaning Nigerians not to be weary in well doing.

One of the benefiting Orphanage homes, Paraphilitan Orphanage home, represented by Revd Mother Lauretta Ilechukwu, appreciated the wife of the governor for reaching out to orphanages homes on regular basis.

She equally called on others who could do same to do so, “there are those who have but cannot give. The mind of giving is a special gift from God”, she added.
