The Delta Broadcasting Service (DRTV) Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, has endorsed the Stand Up Team led by Comrade Kenneth Obieh ahead of the October 15, 2026, NUJ Delta State Council elections.

The endorsement followed a campaign visit by the team to the chapel, where the candidates presented their manifesto and engaged members on their vision for the leadership of the council.

The motion for the endorsement was moved by the Chapel Secretary, Comrade Ogheneruona Oyibo, and seconded by the Chapel Vice Chairman, Comrade Emmanuel Okoro, alongside Elder Egere Ethel. Members subsequently gave unanimous approval to the motion.

The Stand Up Team delegation included its chairmanship candidate, Comrade Kenneth Obieh; Vice Chairmanship candidate, Comrade Patrick Ochei; Council Secretary candidate, Comrade Felix Ekwu; and Assistant Secretary candidate, Comrade Josephine Omodion.

Addressing the journalists, Obieh outlined key areas of the team’s manifesto, with particular emphasis on members’ welfare, inclusiveness and peaceful coexistence within the union.

He described welfare as a fundamental component of unionism and assured members that an administration led by the Stand Up Team would give it priority.

Obieh also spoke about the need to address what he described as divisions and disagreements within the State Working Committee, promising that the team would promote cooperation and a more inclusive approach to union administration.

He further assured members that every chapel would be carried along in the affairs of the council and that entitlements due to chapels would be administered without discrimination.

«“We will run an all-inclusive administration. No chapel will be abandoned. Whatever is due to any chapel will be given to them. That is our promise,” Obieh said.»

Responding on behalf of the chapel, its Chairman, Comrade John Glover, expressed the chapel’s support for the visiting team, particularly highlighting the candidacy of Comrade Felix Ekwu, a member and leader of the DRTV Chapel, for the position of Council Secretary.

Glover described Ekwu as a long-standing member of the chapel and said his emergence as a candidate was significant to the DRTV Chapel.

The meeting thereafter ended with members declaring their support for the Stand Up Team ahead of the October 15 election.

The atmosphere at the chapel was marked by solidarity as members chanted, “Stand Up Team, we stand with you,” during the interaction with the visiting delegation.

Also accompanying the team were Comrade Omonigho Okotie, Principal Director-General; Comrade Dominic Adewole, Co-Director-General; Comrade Anthonia Mowah, Woman General; and Comrade Augustine Akanigha, Director of Mobilisation.
