Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, will tomorrow, Wednesday, November 26, 2025, present the 2026 Appropriation Bill to the Delta State House of Assembly.
The disclosure was made during Tuesday’s plenary of the Assembly, where Speaker Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor read a formal communication from the governor, notifying lawmakers of his intention to appear before them to lay the budget.
The Speaker assured members that all necessary arrangements had been put in place to receive the governor for the crucial fiscal presentation.
Tuesday’s sitting also featured the screening of nominees for reappointment into the Delta State Civil Service Commission.
Three nominees are Comrade Olumami O. Oyibo, Dr. Chief Akpufuoma I. Pemu, and Prince Mike Oputa, appeared before the House.
Comrade Oyibo, who was the first to be screened, was directed to step down and return on another date after lawmakers identified errors in his Curriculum Vitae.
The House emphasized the importance of proper and accurate documentation, reiterating that the legislature remains an institution of records.
Dr. Chief Akpufuoma I. Pemu and Prince Mike Oputa successfully scaled through the screening process and were subsequently confirmed for reappointment.
Earlier in the plenary, the Assembly also took the Notice of Presentation and First Reading of the Delta State Public Health and Hygiene Bill, 2025 (HB.42).
Sponsored by Hon. Engr. Emeka Emmanuel Nwaobi and sixteen other members, the proposed legislation seeks to repeal the Public Health Law of 1957 and introduce a modern, comprehensive framework for regulating public health and hygiene across Delta State.
