Labour Party candidate for Delta North Senatorial District, Rex Biose, has called for renewed commitment to accountable leadership, justice and good governance as Nigeria marks its 66th Independence Anniversary.

Biose, in a goodwill message to Nigerians on Thursday, said the anniversary offered an opportunity for citizens to reflect on the sacrifices that shaped the country and the collective responsibility required to build a better nation.

The Delta North senatorial candidate described Nigeria as a country endowed with abundant human and natural resources, but argued that poor leadership had continued to constrain the nation’s development.

He said the country needed leaders who would prioritise public interest, respect the rule of law, strengthen democratic institutions and create opportunities for citizens to prosper.

“As we celebrate our Independence Day, we honour the sacrifices that shaped our nation and reflect on the Nigeria we aspire to build,” Biose said.

He added that the challenges confronting the country required a collective commitment to ensuring that good governance became a standard rather than an aspiration.

According to him, leadership must be defined by integrity, competence, accountability and measurable results, rather than personal interests.

Biose further pledged that, as a candidate for the Delta North Senatorial District, he would continue to support the pursuit of a Nigeria where citizens could live with dignity, hope and confidence in the future.

“Let us continue to believe in Nigeria and work together for the change our nation deserves.

“Happy Independence Day, Nigeria!” he stated. If you want, I can also give this a more critical, punchier The Story headline while keeping the report professionally neutral.
