In a renewed push to sustain high standards in public healthcare delivery, the Director-General of the State Contributory Health Insurance Commission, Dr. Isaac Akpoveta, has initiated a quality assurance and monitoring drive across healthcare facilities operating under the state’s contributory health insurance scheme.

The exercise is intended to ensure that accredited health institutions consistently deliver efficient, patient-centered and cost-effective services to enrollees, in line with the core objectives of the programme.

The monitoring tour commenced at the Asaba Specialist Hospital, where Dr. Akpoveta inspected major service areas, including the Antenatal, Maternity and Paediatrics departments, as well as the operating theatres.

Emphasis was placed on evaluating service delivery, infrastructure utilization and adherence to approved clinical standards for beneficiaries.

During interactions with patients, many beneficiaries expressed satisfaction with the accessibility and quality of care received under the scheme.

Dr. Akpoveta underscored the importance of public confidence and participation, urging residents to continue to support the initiative as a vital pillar of sustainable healthcare financing.

He explained that the contributory health insurance scheme was established to provide affordable healthcare, particularly for vulnerable populations, by offering comprehensive medical services at no cost to beneficiaries.

According to him, the programme promotes equity by guaranteeing access to quality healthcare for all residents, regardless of socio-economic status.

The ongoing monitoring exercise, the Director-General noted, forms part of a broader strategy to strengthen service delivery, deepen coverage and maintain the scheme’s top ranking among contributory health insurance programmes nationwide.
