Former Delta State Governor and APC Delta North senatorial candidate, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has called on voters in Ika North-East Local Government Area to convert their growing support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) into electoral victory for the party in the 2027 general elections.
Okowa made the appeal at a councillors’ empowerment programme held in Ward 7, Akumazi, where 400 residents benefited from cash assistance provided as part of the initiative.
He said the large crowds witnessed during the programme across the local government demonstrated increasing acceptance of the APC, urging supporters to sustain the momentum beyond political gatherings and demonstrate it at the ballot box.
“I am overwhelmed by the large turnout of our people. I urge you to remain loyal to the APC and ensure that your support translates into votes for all our candidates in 2027,” he said.
Okowa congratulated the beneficiaries and encouraged them to deploy the financial assistance towards ventures capable of improving their livelihoods and strengthening their economic independence.
He also commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for appointing an indigene of Akumazi, Mr Charles Aniagwu, as Commissioner for Works, Rural Roads and Public Information.
According to him, the appointment reflects the recognition accorded the community and the wider Ika North-East area.
Recalling his administration’s relationship with Aniagwu, Okowa said he first appointed him Chief Press Secretary before subsequently elevating him to Commissioner for Information, stressing that the decisions were based on his competence, diligence and commitment to public service.
He assured the people of Ika North-East that an APC administration would continue to take the area into consideration in the allocation of political appointments and the implementation of development projects.
Also speaking, Aniagwu received a warm reception from the crowd and disclosed that the first project executed by the Oborevwori administration in Ika North-East was located in Akumazi.
He urged the people to reciprocate the gesture by voting for APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
Aniagwu attributed the empowerment initiative to improved financial resources available to the various tiers of government, saying the development had created greater opportunities for government to respond to the needs of citizens.
He said Governor Oborevwori remained committed to delivering the dividends of democracy across Delta State, while urging residents to preserve peace and unity as essential conditions for sustainable development.
The APC Chairman in Ika North-East, Mr Emeke Asiwe, described the empowerment programme, organised by councillors representing the 14 wards in the local government, as evidence of their commitment to improving the welfare of their constituents.
Asiwe assured residents that additional empowerment interventions would be rolled out before the end of the year.
The event featured the presentation of ₦50,000 each to 400 beneficiaries, alongside the formal unveiling of APC candidates to the people ahead of the 2027 elections.
