A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Gabriel Ebube Nwajei, has formally declared his intention to contest for the Aniocha North State Constituency seat in the Delta State House of Assembly ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The declaration, held on Friday at Issele-Azagba Ward 5, attracted party members, stakeholders, and supporters from across the constituency, including a strong turnout from neighbouring communities.
Addressing the gathering, Nwajei said his decision followed extensive consultations with leaders and grassroots supporters, noting that the encouragement he received played a key role in his resolve to enter the race.
He pledged to deliver responsive and impactful representation, anchored on people-oriented legislation and the attraction of development projects to all communities within the constituency.
“My aspiration is driven by a commitment to service, integrity, and measurable results. I am determined to advance laws and initiatives that will improve the lives of our people,” he said.
Nwajei also highlighted his longstanding involvement in grassroots politics, stating that his experience has equipped him with a clear understanding of the needs and aspirations of the people. He assured constituents of accessibility, accountability, and dedication if elected.
The event featured goodwill messages from party stakeholders, who described the aspirant as a reliable mobiliser with a strong track record of commitment to party growth and community development.
Among those who spoke were Mr. Joseph Nwaisieme, former APC Ward 5 Chairman; Hon. Tobechukwu Ukwamedua, former Vice Chairman of Aniocha North Local Government; and Hon. Iyke Ijeh, former Ward Councillor.
They commended Nwajei’s leadership qualities and expressed confidence in his capacity to provide effective representation.
Also lending support, the Youth President of Issele-Azagba, Prince Awele Mordi, said young people in the area identify with Nwajei’s vision and leadership, expressing optimism about his ability to deliver inclusive governance.
In a related development, stakeholders at the event passed a vote of confidence on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, endorsing them for a second term ahead of the 2027 elections.
The declaration signals an early move in the build-up to the 2027 polls, with Nwajei positioning himself as a contender focused on grassroots development and broad-based representation in Aniocha North.
