A woman identified as Mrs. Uchenna Obasi and her daughter have allegedly used razor blade Scissors and kitchen knife on their neighbour, a seven months old pregnant woman and mother of a little baby, Mrs. Ani Gift at the Camp besides the Toll-gate on the Asaba/Onitsha Expressway, Oshimili south local government area of Delta State.
Trouble started on Monday April 12th 2021, about 6:00pm, when Mrs. Obasi and her daughter accused the husband of the victim, a bus conductor plying Asaba-Onitsha route of impotency despite carrying a seven months pregnancy and breastfeeding a baby boy.
The Lead Activist, Young Nigerian Rights Organization, Comrade Victor Ojei, who brought the incident to the public domain, noted that when Mrs. Gift cautioned the neighbour and her daughter, they broke into her apartment, attacked her with dangerous weapons and inflicted deep wounds on her body.
“Upon cautioning Mrs. Uchenna Obasi and her daughter to stop mocking her husband, they trespassed into her house and dragged her out, Mrs. Uchenna Obasi pinned her on the ground.
“Mrs. Uchenna Obasi used scissors to barb her hair while her daughter used kitchen knife to stab her multiple times”, disclosinging that the incident was not the first.
“Keep in mind that this is not the first time they are using scissors on her hair anytime they have misunderstanding.
“As I got there, it was a very serious case, I took her to the police station for police report and took her to the hospital. After my investigation, I discovered that this girl didn’t do anything, just had quarrel with her neighbour and her daughter and they promised to kill her.
“They were three that hold this girl, one was removing her Easter hair with scissors and the other used knife and razor blade to discern her body. The matter is at “B” Division police station Asaba Delta state”.
The Lead Activist disclosed further that she was rushed to Okwe Central hospital where she was given emergency treatment, she is still taking medications. She has a stab on her breast that the doctors could not stitch”.
“As soon as we got the information we communicated to ministry of Justice sexual violence and domestic abuse department and the state CID of the police headquarters Asaba, they are about transferring the case from ‘B’ Division”.
Meanwhile, “Mrs. Obasi’s husband told the victim and her husband that he will ensure he kills them and pay the police to cover up the case” Ojei said.
He however, vowed that they would ensure that the victim and her husband gets justice, “We will ensure justice is served because these actions meted on her goes against violence against persons act of the Federal and state governments of Nigeria”.
Investigation revealed that the police at ‘B’ Division are purportedly treating the matter with kit gloves just as it was learnt that they are allegedly pressuring the victim to be paid to close the case.
It was learnt that Mrs. Obasi’s daughter has been arrested while the prime suspect and one other are now at large.
The acting Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Edafe Bright, confirmed the incident.
