In a troubling resurgence of tribal violence, authorities in Adamawa State have apprehended two individuals linked to a deadly conflict between the Bachama and Chobo tribes.

The arrests came after the tragic loss of three women’s lives, which heightened tensions in the region.

The victims were reportedly attacked on January 3, 2026, during a farming excursion near Tigno village in the Lamurde Local Government Area.

The suspects, 30-year-old William Joshua and 23-year-old Ezekiel Luka, both residents of Tigno, were taken into custody following credible information.

During the operation, police recovered a significant cache of ammunition, including 29 rounds of live ammunition and an AK-47 rifle magazine, along with ₦90,000 in cash. Adamawa State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahya Nguroje, confirmed that preliminary investigations led to this recovery and are ongoing.

In response to the escalating situation, Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, urged the community to remain calm, stating that authorities are committed to holding the perpetrators and their instigators accountable.

The apprehended suspects are reportedly cooperatively aiding the investigation.
