THE STORY: Gbagi Calls For Calm Over Allege Police Killing In Delta Community

Youths, residents especially Indigenes of Ughelli, the administrative headquarter of Ughelli north local government area of Delta state, have been charged not to take the law into their hands following the purported murder of a youth in the community by operatives of the Nigerian Police Force.

The Special Adviser to the state governor on Youth Development, Chief Emuoboh Gbagi, made this known while reacting to the alleged killing which has caused apprehension in the Community.

According to the SA, the incident is highly regrettable just as he assured youths and residents of the area of government’s readiness to tackle the crisis from the root.

Hear him: “Our attention has been drawn to the trending viral video presently making rounds on popular Nigerian blogs as well as on social media on the alleged shooting of a young man by “SARS”  officials in Ughelli, Delta State as recorded. 

“This incident is highly regrettable and I would like to assure all Delta state Youths, indigenes and residents that His Excellency, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa will get to the root of the incident.

“Please be reminded that our Governor is a trained medical doctor that understands the sanctity of life therefore I urge all Deltan Youths to please remain calm as Delta state HIGHLY values your lives. 

“I call on the Delta State commissioner of Police to act swiftly regarding this matter as quick response will quell all agitation regarding the incident. I would like to use this opportunity to echo the calls for the police reforms as this incident is not isolated.

“Several youths including myself have constantly been intimidated and harassed by those supposed to protect us. This is unbecoming of their position and office. Adequate steps must be taken to stop this unnecessary rampant occurrences.  

“To Delta Youths, Please do not resort to any form of violence or reprisal. We are already working towards a peaceful resolution without any further losses.

“The Office of the Special Adviser on Youth Development would like to reiterate that Delta State is fully committed to the security and peaceful coexistence of all indigenes and residents, that is our first priority”, Gbagi said.
