THE STORY BREAKING NEWS: Delta Poly Students Cripple Education Activities Over Covid-19 Levy

Since the circular allegedly directing students of higher Institutions in Delta State to pay N5, 000, N3, 000 and N10, 000 respectively surfaced, there has been agitation from students across the state.

Learning activities have been crippled by students of the Delta State Polytechnic Ozoro, on Friday 9th, 2020, took to the streets to protest the imposition of Covid-19 levey on them by the school management as purportedly directed by the state government.

Aggrieved students said that it was wickedness on the part of the government and the school management to demand for the payment of  N5, 000 in the name of Covid-19 with  most students struggling to pay school fees in order to write their examinations. 

It was gathered that ativities within the school premises has been crippled as the riotous students barricaded the main gate preventing staffers from entering and leaving.  

It would be recall that the National Association of Delta State Students (NADESSTU), in a letter, appealed to the state governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, to revert the decision.

NADESSTU, also vowed to protest the imposition of Covid-19 levy on students who are just returning to school due to the pandemic that brought down the economy.
