THE STORY BREAKING NEWS: Armed Robbers Attack Bank Driver, Cart Away Undisclosed Sums Of Money

Bandits numbering about five have attacked a driver working with a Micro-finance bank (name withheld) and carted away with large sums of money belonging to a bank customer whose name is yet to be determined.

It was learnt that the driver allegedly played a questionable role in the whole acts as residents and passersby were thrown into panic due to the attack which was uninterrupted.

Trouble started on the eve of Friday 26th February 2021, at Jigbale area, off the popular Udu road, Udu local government area of Delta State when the hoodlums waylaid the driver in a scene that looks like one of the Nollywood movies.

The incident occurred while the driver was already on his way back to the bank from the location he was sent to pick the money belonging to the bank customer.

Sources disclosed that the driver parked some 300 meters from the bank and was making calls unknown to him that the robbers were monitoring him.

To instill fear in the driver and scare away people, the hooligans shot sporadically into the air, causing pandemonium in the area before lunching attack on their target, as they were publicly showing their cut to size locally made guns and cartridges during the operation.

It was learnt that police officers were dispatched to the scene to restore normalcy to the troubled zone.

Sources noted that the bank driver is the prime suspect as he was allegedly seen on phone.

Investigation revealed that the driver has been arrested over his suspicious role the robbery saga.

Contacted, the Ag. Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Edafe Bright, who confirmed the incident said the robbers took to their heels on sighting the police.
