Suspected Fulani Herdsmen Empty Bank’s Bullion Van, Kill Policeman, Two Others In Delta

Fierce looking bandits suspected to be Fulani herdsmen laid seige on a bullion van belonging to a new generation bank (name withheld), along Ubulu-Okiti, Aniocha south local government area of Delta State.

Trouble started on Tuesday 23rd February 2021, when the hoodlums ambushed and opened fire on the bullion van that was conveying raw cash.

It was learnt that the hooligans overpowered the security operatives escorting the bullion van as one police officer was allegedly killed in the gun duel.

It was alleged that the police bowed to the superior power of the criminals following the sophisticated weapons in the custody as they purportedly succeeded in their operation and onslaught against the uniform men.

The Director-General, Young Nigerian Rights Organization, Comrade Victor Ojei, disclosed thus: “There was a robbery of a Bank Bullion van at Ubulu-Okiti in Delta State yesterday”.

Sources alleged that the operation was an insider arrangement as such a high profile robbery would not be carried out without information.

According to a source who pleaded anonymity, there was crossfire between the police and the armed robbers, leading to the death of two other market women.

It was alleged that the thieves emptied the bullion van in what look like a Nollywood scene, leading to panic in the community, due to the sporadic shooting that accompanied the alleged successful operation.

Contacted, the acting Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Edafe Bright, confirmed the attack.

Hear him: “Yes! It actually happened but I don’t have details of what transpired and every other details that you may need now.

“The only thing that I can tell you for now is that it happened”, he reiterated.
