Briefing Journalists on Wednesday 3rd March 2021, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ari Muhammed Ali, said the hoodlums were arrested at various locations in the state.
He disclosed that on 21st February 2021, patrol team from ‘B’ Division Ughelli led by ASP Akpovwovwo Prest while on stop and search duty along Uduere road intercepted a Honda Vehicle with registration number JT 859 EKY driven by one Sunday Digbor, 44 years resident at No. 15 Enroba Street, Enerhen with two military caps and a T-shirt which were recovered from him upon interrogation.
Similarly, a team of Delta Hawk by Midwifery Junction along Okpanam road Asaba, intercepted two vehicles, a red Toyota Corolla with registeration number ABJ49AA and a black Mercedes Formatic Jeep without registeration number suspected to be stolen with covered plate number.
“Six occupants, Chidozie Arinze, 23 years, Kingsley Ndukuba, 32 years, Nwokoye Chidera Emmanuel, 21 years Chinedu Kwali, 29 years. All of Anambra State and Chidera Anichukwu, 21 years of Ebonyi state.
“On the spot search, six pieces of army camouflage uniform, one army beret and face cap, one bayounet and one porch were recovered from the suspects”, disclosing that the case is under investigation to arrest other gang members who are at large for prosecution.
In another development, 20 suspected cultists have been arrested after a raid was carried out in their hideouts in Agbor, Ika south and Sapele local government areas.
He revealed that, “during the raid, two locally made cut to size guns, two Dane guns, one dagger and a laptop were recovered. The suspects confessed to be members of Aro Bagger and Ayes confraternities”.
In same vein, “A team of Eagle net Squad led by Inspector John Andersikuteb while on Aberdeen system of patrol along Ughelli road intercepted two male occupants, Stanley Agbuke, 32 years and Esiaje Michael, 41 years on an unregistered Qlink motorcycle.
“Upon a thorough search, 150 live cartridges, one Delta State vigilante group identity card, two small Itel phones and an alligator pepper were recovered from the suspects. On 32rd February 2021, one Efosa Osayenda, 32 years from Benin City, Edo State, was arrested along Lagos-Asaba express road with White Lexus RX 350 with Police Spy plate number with registeration number PF 2502-SPY”.
The police accused the suspect of indiscriminate use of siren and unauthorized use of police spy number, pointing out that the Vehicle was impounded.
“A team of policemen accosted one Lexus RX 300 with presidency plate number NYCN -063 along Midwifery Junction Off Okpanam road Asaba and the occupant of the vehicle on noticing being followed by the police abandoned the vehicle and escaped from being arrested”, Ali, added.
