The duo were ambushed at a police checkpoint in Eku, on Saturday night for a yet to be disclosed reasons.
Also four persons have also been killed in Abraka, by a rival cult group, making the University Community to run cold.
Palpable fear has envelope the area as the cult groups vowed to unleash more terror on the people.
As a result of killings all Anti-Cult groups have been dislodged, awaiting a fresh screening and approval from the appropriate authorities.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the council, Mrs. Faith Majemite, has sought and placed curfew in both communities pending when the security situation returns to normal.
A press release signed by Mrs. Majemite, called on the youths to meaningfully engage themselves in ventures that would profit them and the state.
Hear her: “Following the recent breakdown of Law and Order and as a result of breach of Public Peace by some group of cultists and criminals in Abraka and Eku, whereby four persons have been killed by rival groups with a threat to instill more mayhem in the University Community.
“Copuled with the brutal murder of a Mobile Policeman and a civilian at a police checkpoint in Eku last night by unknown persons.
“It is pertinent and as a matter of urgency with the approval from the state government, curfew has been Imposed from 9:00pm to 5:00am with immediate effect, on Abraka and Eku communities, pending when the security situation improves in other to safeguard lives and Properties of our Citizens.
“However, All the Anti cult groups are hereby disbanded pending fresh screening and approval from the appropriate authorities.
“I also wish to use this Medium to advice the General Public in particular our Youths to abstain from any Criminal Act by engaging themselves in Legal Ventures”, the statement added.
Contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, confirmed the killing of the police officer and the civilian, pointing out that it occurred two nights ago.
She however promised to get details of the Abraka killing.
