A release, Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Onome Onovwakpoyeya, said: “The “Ember months’ which is usually characterized with anxiety and attendant social vices begins from 1st September, 2020.
“The Commercial and economic activities within the period are scaled-up as part of the build up for the Christmas and New Year festivities.
“The vantage position of the state as a gateway to the Eastern states with proximity to the Commercial City of Onitsha in Anambra State, usually place enormous security demand on the Command”.
She hinted that in the light of the above, the State Commissioner of Police, Hafiz Mohammed Inuwa, has stepped up security measures in the state through increased visibility patrol, robust deployment of personnel and equipment to all nooks and crannies of the state for surveillance and intelligence gathering.
The CP reiterates the Command’s commitment of discharging its statutory mandate of securing lives and properties, maintaining peace and order at all times.
He urged members of the public to continue to assist and collaborate with the Police and other security agencies to enable them serve the good people of the state better, while admonishing them to be security conscious and take appropriate measures towards personal protection and their personal effects, not only at home but also in public places such as markets, worship centers, shopping malls and highways.
He equally encourages Deltans to continue to observe all necessary precautionary measures as laid down by Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) to curtail the spread of COVID-19 in the country and Delta State in particular: such as social distancing, wearing of face masks, washing of hands with soap and water and also to avoid crowded environments.
