The Delta State Police Command has recorded major operational successes in its sustained fight against crime, with the interception of an armed group and the dismantling of a notorious drug network in separate, intelligence-driven operations across the state.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Command disclosed that a total of twelve suspects were arrested, while dangerous weapons and large quantities of illicit drugs were recovered during the coordinated operations.
According to the Police, operatives of the Command’s Buffalo Patrol Team, while conducting routine stop-and-search duties at the Head Bridge boundary between Anambra and Delta States on January 22, 2026, intercepted a green Toyota Sienna travelling into Delta State.
The occupants of the vehicle claimed they were in the state to welcome a visiting religious leader.
However, a thorough search of the vehicle led to the discovery of concealed weapons, including three pump-action guns, a locally fabricated dane gun, a battle axe, and twenty-six live cartridges.
The suspects arrested in connection with the operation include six individuals comprising five males and one female.
They have been taken into custody, while investigations are ongoing to determine the source and intended use of the recovered arms.
In a related development, the Police also recorded a major success against drug trafficking in Ugborikoko community. On January 20, 2026, operatives of the Ugborikoko Division, under the supervision of the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Setemi
Agbede-Zoukumor, carried out a targeted raid based on credible intelligence.
The operation initially led to the arrest of a suspected drug dealer, who subsequently provided information that enabled the Police to track and arrest six additional suspects believed to be key members of an organised drug distribution network operating within the community.
Searches conducted at the suspects’ residences resulted in the recovery of a large cache of hard drugs and drug-related paraphernalia, including various packs of Indian hemp, Canadian loud, Kolorado, Swinol, Tramadol tablets, and processing tools believed to be used for preparation and resale.
The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Aina Adesola, reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to dismantling criminal networks across the state.
He emphasised that the Police would continue to deploy proactive and intelligence-led strategies to ensure the safety of lives and property in Delta State.
The Commissioner also urged residents to remain law-abiding and to support security efforts by providing timely and credible information, assuring the public that all intelligence received would be treated with utmost confidentiality.
The Delta State Police Command reiterated its resolve to sustain the momentum against crime and maintain public confidence through professionalism, vigilance, and community partnership.
