The Delta State Police Command has intensified its statewide visibility policing and enforcement operations, impounding 31 vehicles during a coordinated crime prevention patrol in Agbor as part of efforts to strengthen public safety and curb criminal activities across the state.
The enforcement exercise, conducted on Friday, July 3, 2026, was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Department of Operations (DOPS).
The operation covered the Agbor metropolis, major highways, entry and exit routes, as well as border communities linking Delta and Edo states.
According to a statement issued on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the operation formed part of the Command’s proactive crime prevention strategy aimed at reinforcing police visibility, deterring criminal elements, and ensuring strict compliance with traffic and vehicle registration regulations.
The Command disclosed that 31 vehicles were impounded for various offences, including failure to display registration number plates, use of obscured or covered number plates, expired vehicle particulars, and other traffic-related violations.
It added that the affected vehicles would be charged before a court of competent jurisdiction in accordance with extant laws.
The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and sustained strategic enforcement operations across the state.
He stressed that the continuous visibility policing initiative is designed not only to enforce traffic laws but also to deny criminal elements the opportunity to exploit unregulated vehicles for unlawful activities.
The police commissioner urged motorists to comply fully with all vehicle registration and traffic requirements, emphasizing that adherence to the law remains critical to effective crime prevention, enhanced public safety, and the maintenance of law and order.
The Command assured residents that similar operations would continue across Delta State as part of ongoing efforts to safeguard lives and property while strengthening public confidence in policing.
