The Delta State Police Command has recorded another major breakthrough in its sustained offensive against violent crime, following the arrest of suspected kidnappers, armed robbery syndicates, and cult members in coordinated operations across the state.

In a statement issued on Monday, November 24, 2025, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the successful operations, which led to the recovery of multiple firearms, ammunition, stolen items, and a vehicle allegedly used for criminal activities.

Arrest of Suspected Kidnappers and Armed Robbers

On November 23, 2025, at about 6:30 a.m., operatives of the Eagle Net Special Squad, led by SP Danyaya Inusa, responded to a distress call on the Asaba-Benin Expressway near the Dustbin/Mango Tree axis.

The team, supported by officers of the Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service, encountered a gang of armed criminals who immediately opened fire.

The operatives returned controlled fire, forcing the suspects to flee. Following a hot pursuit, three suspects, Oghenemaro Martins (25), Tarebi Miracle Ogbada (22), and Okorie James Kalu (19), were arrested.

During the chase, the fleeing suspects abandoned a black bag, which was recovered and found to contain items directly linked to the robbery incident and previous attacks. The recovered exhibits include:

One English-made Beretta pistol

One locally made pistol

Four live 9mm Beretta ammunition

One HP laptop

One iPhone S

One Tecno phone

One Samsung phone

One PS5 game console

Two necklaces

One laptop charger

According to the statement, the recovered electronics and jewellery matched descriptions provided by several victims robbed around the Okpanam–Asaba corridor, establishing clear links between the suspects and multiple recent attacks.

Arrest of Suspected Cultists in Sapele and Oghara

In a separate intelligence-driven operation, the CP Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), led by ASP Julius Robinson, apprehended three suspected members of the Aye Confraternity on November 24, 2025, at about 5:30 a.m.

The suspects—Miracle Umukoro (52), Mudiaga Ukavwe (31), and Solomon Oghoro, also known as Spartan (30)—were arrested during coordinated raids in Sapele and Oghara.

Recovered from the suspects were:

One pump-action gun

Six live cartridges

One cutlass

One Toyota Sienna vehicle (Reg. No. LSR 621 JW) allegedly used for surveillance and logistics during criminal operations

The police stated that the suspects confessed to their roles in cult-related activities and remain in custody as investigations continue.

Police Reaffirm Commitment to Public Safety

Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, commended the officers involved for their professionalism and courage.

He reiterated the Command’s unwavering stance against armed robbery, kidnapping, and cult-related violence, assuring residents that the police will sustain its aggressive crime-fighting operations.

The CP also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies, using the Command’s Control Room number: 08036684974.
