They also alleged that the Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa-led administration wants the Community to take to the street in protest so they could be labelled as “hoodlums” and “looters”.
A member of the Community, who took to his Facebook page, Comrade Donald Ajogbe, said: “They want us to attack Pan Ocean Oil Company facilities for drilling our Oil yet neglecting us, so that they can label us as “hoodlums” and kill us as usual, revealing that the state government and Pan Ocean Oil Company are playing pranks with the development of the community.
“They want us to take to the streets in protest so that they can arrest us as usual.
“We remain law abiding and peace loving people in a neglected and marginalized community that hosts Pan Ocean Oil Company.
“It may interest you to know that Obianyima community is an Agrarian and Oil rich community with 16 Oil Wells so far discovered and out of which, 4 have been successfully drilled by the Pan Ocean Oil Company”, he disclosed.
Comrade Ajogbe, alleged further that the oil rich community lacks government presence as they don’t have good road, equipped Health Center, good market, portable water, electricity “no security as we live by the mercies of kidnappers and Fulani herdsmen”.
While explaining that the Community lacks complete government presence, he said as an Agrarian and Oil rich community that feeds and develops the entire state, no indigene is representing the community in the Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (DESOPADEC) and the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
He equally lamented that there is no political appointee from the community in the government of Delta State despite the teeming graduates from the community and no indigene of Obi-Anyima Community is a staff of Pan Ocean Oil Company.
He said though the state governor and the Chairman, Delta State Traditional Rulers Council shares same Federal Constituency with the allegedly abandoned community, yet their Impact are not felt.
According to him, the Secretary to the Delta State Government (SSG), Chiedu Ebie, the Commissioner for Water Resources, Rt. Hon. Martin Okonta, the majority Whip Delta State House of Assembly, Mr. Festus Okoh and the Dein of Agbor Kingdom are all from the same local government area, the Community exist in its own shadow as none among them speaks about the development of the community.
Hear him: “In view of the above, we are still calling on the Government of Delta State and Pan Ocean Oil Company to please attend to our needs”.
At press time, text messages sent to the Commissioner for Information, Charles Ehiedu Aniagwu and the member representing Ika South Constituency, Mr. Festus Okoh, to get their reactions were ignored while the SSG in his response simply said “thank you”.
