In a fiery response to a recent theft incident, Barr. Austin Uwasike, Permanent Secretary of the House of Assembly Service Commission, has declared an uncompromising war against theft within and around the workplace.
This stern warning follows the reported loss of mechanical engineering tools valued at over ₦500,000 from a staff member’s car parked within the office premises during the recently concluded promotion exercise.
Uwasike described the theft as outrageous and intolerable, labeling it a direct affront to the safety and dignity of the work environment.
He stressed that such criminal behavior not only undermines workplace morale but also contradicts the principles of the “Enhanced Peace and Security” pillar of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda.
“This is an unacceptable act that violates the sanctity of our work environment. The culprits will be hunted down and made to face the full wrath of the law.
“This commission, under the leadership of Chief Sunday Ebirere, will not tolerate such disgraceful acts,” Uwasike declared, clearly angered by the incident.
Leveraging his expertise as a trained lawyer, Uwasike conducted a preliminary investigation, concluding that the theft was likely carried out by passersby, exploiting the secluded nature of the office’s location.
Taking immediate action, he ordered a series of robust security measures to prevent a recurrence:
Reactivation of CCTV Cameras: All existing surveillance systems are to be reactivated and monitored round the clock.
Enhanced Access Control: Unauthorized entry into the vicinity will be strictly prohibited and monitored.
Regular Security Patrols: Frequent patrols around the premises will ensure heightened vigilance.
Zero Tolerance for Suspicious Activity: Staff are mandated to report any suspicious behavior promptly.
Uwasike also issued a stern warning to all staff members, urging them to remain vigilant and proactive in safeguarding their belongings while cooperating fully with security protocols.
“This administration is committed to maintaining a safe and secure environment for every staff member.
“Anyone caught engaging in theft or any form of misconduct will face severe consequences. We will not rest until we rid this environment of criminal elements,” Uwasike vowed.
This decisive stance underscores Uwasike’s dedication to ensuring a secure and conducive workplace, aligning with the broader objectives of Governor Oborevwori’s administration.
The fight against theft has officially begun, and perpetrators should beware.
