Police Arrest Suspected Cultists, Armed Robbers, Recovers Firearms, Weapons
Two Pump Action Guns, Cut-to-Size Gun, Axe, Other Items Seized in Separate Operations
The Delta State Police Command continues to intensify efforts to rid the state of criminal elements with the recent arrest of suspected cultists and an armed robbery suspect, alongside the recovery of prohibited firearms and dangerous weapons.
Routine Stop-and-Search Operation Leads to Arrest in Ughelli North
A release made available on Tuesday June 24, 2025, by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Edafe Bright said on 18th June, 2025, at approximately 12:20hrs, operatives of the Eagle-Net Surveillance Team stationed in Ughelli North LGA, while on routine stop-and-search duty along the Otokutu Bridge, Warri, intercepted a black Toyota Corolla with registration number RSH 90 RC.
The vehicle, driven by one Telvin Richmond (27) of Opete by Otokutu, and accompanied by Frank Obiorah (26) of the same address, was subjected to a thorough search.
The officers discovered a cache of items concealed within the vehicle’s door compartments, including one locally made cut-to-size gun, two yellow hand bands inscribed with “NBM” (Neo Black Movement), one battle axe and one wooden pistol.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects are members of the Aiye Confraternity, a notorious cult group. One of the suspects confessed to purchasing the firearm in 2024 for ₦87,000 from an individual who is currently on the run. The suspects are now in custody as investigations continue.
Native Doctor Arrested in Ibusa — Arms Hidden in Ceiling Recovered
In a related development, on 14th June, 2025, at about 06:30hrs, operatives of the Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cybercrime Squad, acting on credible intelligence, executed a search warrant at the residence of a native doctor, identified as Okonji Chimeze (47), of Umuehe Quarters, Ibusa.
During the operation, officers discovered and recovered the following items concealed in the ceiling of the suspect’s bedroom: two automatic pump-action guns and one cutlass.
The suspect is currently in custody, and investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of his activities and any possible affiliations.

It will be recalled that years after a notorious syndicate of suspected ritual killers operating beneath the Otokutu Bridge in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State was dismantled and two suspected ritualists were apprehended at the same location, sparking renewed fears among residents, the police have recorded another major feat in same location.
