A suspected internet fraudster has been arrested by operatives of the Delta State Police Command following the alleged killing of his girlfriend in Edjeba community, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.
The incident reportedly occurred at the suspect’s residence on Ajidi Street, Edjeba, sending shockwaves through the community.
According to information obtained by Daily Post, the landlord of the compound alerted the police after hearing a loud distress call from the suspect’s apartment.
Police officers who responded to the scene reportedly searched the apartment and discovered the victim’s body. The suspect was immediately taken into custody and is currently assisting investigators.
The remains of the deceased have been deposited in a morgue pending the conclusion of police investigations.
Residents of the area expressed disbelief over the incident, noting that the victim was seen the previous day purchasing food items from a nearby market. Neighbours said she had reportedly intended to prepare a meal for her boyfriend.
Community members further disclosed that the couple were frequently seen together around the neighbourhood and were often spotted in the suspect’s white Lexus SUV.
Confirming the incident, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, said the suspect had been arrested and remains in police custody while investigations continue.
Police authorities have assured that a thorough investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure that justice is served.
