No fewer than 26 persons including children have been killed in Effium/Ezza-Effium community in Ohaukwu and part of Ebonyi local government areas of Ebonyi state.
The communal clash is between the Effium/Ezza-Effium people but it has spilled to Izzi.
It was learnt that the raging war is between brothers and sisters who decided to killed themselves as people were being matcheted to death in a most brutal way.
It was gathered that not less than 26 persons including mothers, fathers, sons and daughters and even children were butchered in an early morning attack on residents of Effium/Ezza-Effium community in Ohaukwu.
Other sources from the affected communities put the figures at far above 30, as it was learnt that Sunday’s massacre isn’t an isolated case.
The crises has been going on for long with some accusing the state government of either taking side in the conflict or not showing enough political will to resolve the incessant bloodbath.
“I understand this is election period and everyone, politicians and ordinary citizens alike, are focused on the next election but please, you don’t have to come from Ebonyi state.
“you don’t even have to be Igbo, kindly lend your voice in bringing this senseless killing to light as well as calling on the state governor David Nweze Umahi , President Muhammadu Buhari as well as the Nigeria Police Force to do more in bringing this mindless harvest of death to an end” a source cried out.
