Area Commanders, DPOs To Face Severe Punishment, As Tougher Times Await Criminal Elements In Delta

Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) whose divisions witness more than three robbery and abduction cases, would be pulled out, the Delta State Police Commissioner, Mr. Ari Mohammed Ali, has said.

Hear him: “Any of my Area Commanders or DPOs that records cases of robbery or kidnapping for three times, will be shown the way out”.

The police boss gave the order on Monday 22nd February 2021, in a media chat with journalists in Asaba, the State Capital.

“I have started with DPO Warri, Sapele and “C” Division, I have removed them to serve as deterrent to others”.

He blamed officers and men of the Command for the recent abductions, armed robbery cases, kidnapping, murder and carting away of service guns from officers who are careless on duty.

“The rate of crime in Delta State within this few weeks is alarming, and I will not let this to continue. I am not here to stay in my office, I am here to work and drastically reduce crime”.

While warning that he was in the State to serve his fatherland and not to stay idle in the comfort of his air condition office, he said such Area Commanders and DPOs would be gotten ride of.

Marching words with action, Mr. Ali, disclosed that the Area Commanders, DPOs of Warri, Sapele and “C” Divisions have been withdrawn to serve as deterrent to others.

He charged officers to synergize in order to defeat all forms of crimes geared towards apprehending unscrupulous elements in the society.

To arrest crime and criminal minded elements, especially on the Warri-Sapele route, Ali ordered for an immediate re-enforcement from Operation Delta Hawk and Operation Safer Highways to mount surveillance on the Warri-Sapele road until crime was brought to its knees.

He said the spike in crime would be discontinued, vowing to end crime under his watch as Commissioner of Police in the state.
