Presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Prince Adewole Adebayo, has called on the president Muhammadu Buhari-led All Progressives Congress (APC) to end the spate of insecurity bedeviling the country.
He regretted that schools are being shutdown in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) as a result of threat from terrorists, pointing out that Buhari, can’t shutdown the country because of bandits.
Adebayo made the call on Tuesday July 26th 2022, in company of the national Chairman of the party, Alhaji Shehu Sani Garbam, the governorship candidate in Delta State, Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi, top ministers from the state among others who met with the president-elect of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Abuja.
While insisting that government is saddled with the responsibility of securing her citizens, he said: “We have banditry, revenue is in the short fall, what we are generating can’t service our debts. We need a right leader with the right heart. There is nothing mystical about governance.
“The shutting down of the FCT schools shows that the presidency has been shutdown. Before the shutdown of the schools, the shutdown started at the presidency. The presidency has been shut down; we need the government to protect us”, he noted.
He wondered whether government would close hospitals, banks and other strategic institutions for fear of attack from the terrorists group, he challenged President Buhari’s government to either “do the job or you resign”, saying the President cannot shut down the country because of banditry.
On his visit to CAN Adebayo who acknowledged that Nigeria is a multi-religious state, said his administration would be one that would allow Nigerians to serve God in their choice of religion, promising to protect Nigerians.
“You also know, in our heart, we desire power for many reasons. We must ensure we put the right leaders in authority. We should not sell our votes; we should not vote for people playing religious cards.”
“God wants this country to prosper but what we lack is love, care and truthfulness. If we obey the law of God and the constitution, the people will rejoice, ” Adebayo added.
Also, the CAN president, Dr. Samson Ayokunle, said they met with Adebayo and the incoming CAN president.
“We want many people to contest elections so that Nigerians will choose the best. We believed that the lord would do it,” Ayokunle added.
It would be recall that Prince Adebayo, on Arise Tv programme has promised Nigerians that his administration would end insecurity in 18 months if elected president of the country come 2023.
