A stalwart of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), in Aniocha south local government area of Delta State, Dr. Tony Nwaka, has resigned his membership of the party.
Nwaka, on Tuesday March 1st 2022, via his verified Facebook page, confirmed his resignation, disclosing that it took effect from yesterday Monday 28th February 2022.
He noted that he is currently consulting with his followers on the next political party to pitch tent with.
It would be recall that on 15th December 2021, State chapter of the Peoples’ Democratic Party suspended Ide Tony Nwaka, a former Commissioner under the Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan’s administration.
The suspension letter was signed by Nwandu Patrick, PDP ward 2 Chairman, reads: “You are by this letter suspended from the party for a period of one month to enable the ward disciplinary Committee to investigate your breaching of section 58 (b) (h) this is to enable to come and defend what you posted on Facebook on 13th December 2021”.

YES, I HAVE RESIGNED MY MEMBERSHIP OF THE PDP.
….and it’s with effect from yesterday Monday, 28 February, 2022. I believe it is unnecessary at this stage to start recounting the circumstances that eventuated in this hour. It is already in the public domain and I have moved on.
More importantly, in the absence of ideological boundaries in our politics, the focus ideally should be on service to the people and not necessarily the platform on which such services are rendered. A fact which I have had to come to the acknowledgement of its grim reality.
Indeed it is good to remain consistent with a political party, but when you and your followers are repeatedly made to feel unwanted, even when you try to endure all the humiliations and insults therein, then honor and integrity demand that you count your teeth with your tongue and seek alternative platforms to express your political intents.
We are in a period of heightened politicking and no one, covertly or overtly, can debar us from playing the politics of the time. No man is the author of another man’s destiny. We shall make our best possible efforts and leave the rest to God.
Accordingly, I am currently in consultation with my followers to determine our next political party (a party that will not be hostile to our vision for societal growth). This we shall make known in due course. Ultimately, we shall all meet on the field of election and the masses will put a stamp of validation on their preferences; they will decide who and what they want.
And kindly pardon me if henceforth you begin to see less and less of my posts on social media, for real politics is played on ground and not in the media. So, as we begin to rev the “Ide” political machine and dig into our trenches, I shall become less visible in the media, except for the few moments I would need to pass some vital information.
I thank you all for your prayers, counsel and continuing support. God bless you.
Dr. Tony F.E. Nwaka.
