THE STORY SITUATION REPORT: Electorate Display Peaceful Disposition In Illah Community

Although, electoral materials arrived very late at about 10:15 to Delta State Independent Electoral Commission (DSIEC) Ward 3, 4 and 16 with nine voting Units, the electorate displayed a high level of maturity, waiting calmly for DSIEC officials.

Calmness and peace enveloped the environment between 9:45am to 11:05am when The Story, visited Illah Community in Oshimili north local government area of Delta State.

Corroborating The Story, the Chief Press Secretary (CPS), to the state governor, Mr. Olisa Ifeajika, stated that the place is calm as the electorate have maintained peaceful disposition.

According to him, “the people knows the essence of democracy and they have long embraced it”, stressing that the people have chosen to remain peaceful as they are politically inclined.

There is heavy presence of security operatives to maintain peace and order in the community and around the voting Units.

It was gathered that two major political parties are in the contest, the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC), candidates.

Another respondent, a voter, Mr. Felix, disclosed that the environment is peaceful, noting that the late arrival of the materials would not deter voters.

As at 11:03, accreditation was ongoing for the people to cast their votes.
