Twenty-two years after faithfully serving the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Delta State chapter, a former Delta State House of Assembly (DTHA) aspirant, Comrade Enudi Marcus, said the party does not reward loyalty.
Comrade Marcus, from Ward 4, Umukwata, Ukwuani local government area of the state, alleged that the former Commissioner on the board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Ken Okolugbo, illegally relieved him of his Administrative Officer’s job in the agency.
Comrade Marcus who resigned today Tuesday 29th 2021, accused the state governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, of complicity after series of letters to him on the matter fell on deaf ears, saying that the directive of the Public Petition Committee of the State House of Assembly, to reinstate him with his arrears paid were not adhered to till date.
Hear him: “I am in my right frame of mind,while writing my resignation letter from PDP, and after due consultations with my family and followers.
“PDP does not reward loyalty, I have served PDP for 22years but nothing to show for it as a person, in my ward or to my followers.
“I struggled to get a job from DESOPADEC, as an Administrative Officer, but was illegally relieved of my job by Mr. Ken Okolugbo, who came to meet me in PDP from AD, I petitioned the Public Pettition committee in the DTHA, they advised us to settle it amicably, as we were all sons of Governor Okowa, and my job be giving back to me, and salaries arrears paid, but till now, nothing positive has happened. Even after numerous letters to the Governor on same issue.
“My followers are losing confidence on me, as I cant take care of their political needs/intetests after using them to deliver PDP in all elections”.
Speaking further, Marcus, who was a member of the Delta State Land & Waterways Security Committee, said: “No meaningful projects in my ward to use to campaign for PDP in another election.
“We started the Anioma Agenda even before 2015, but since we got the governorship position in 2015, the Anioma Agenda has been personalised, I have lost confidence in the Anioma Agenda, we all fought for and won.
“The impunity of most PDP leaders in Ukwuani LGA is too much, they dont respect the rules of politics and the constitution of PDP.
“The PDP Leaders in Ukwuani are too self centred and selfish, we do the work, they take the glory.
“In Ukwuani PDP, the whole benefits goes to Obiaruku and Umutu, I cant continue working for PDP, and my Umukwata community will be left out when the gains come.
“I was prevailed upon to drop my DTHA ambition by Ukwuani PDP, and a member of the National PDP BOT in Ukwuani, to support and deliver the already chosen candidate even before the primary elections, which i obeyed, but i was abandoned by all of them, after working tirelessly to deliver the chosen PDP DTHA candidate in the 2019 General elections.
Although, he didn’t specify the political party he is resigning to collapse his structure into, he said: “As we always say, politics is a game of interest, my interest has never been contained in Ukwuani PDP, so I have to go to where my interest will be contained”, he added.
