A chieftain of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Felix Tony Nwaka, has expressed dismay over the “silence” put up by elders in Delta north senatorial district while the power tussle between the Senator representing the region, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, fell out with the state governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, recently.
A post on his Facebook page, tilted: “WHEN THE ELDERS ARE SILENT”, the former Special Duties Commissioner, said he could not unravel the mystery behind their attitude.
He noted that it is not I every situation that children are allowed to speak on a matter belonging to the elders,. expressing shock that there might be something beyond what the eyes could see.
Hear him: “There is a silence among political elders of Delta North that I am still battling to comprehend; starting from responses to the governor’s comment on the zoning arrangement to his faceoff against the senator.
“I had thought that in these convulsive political times, voices of wisdom would have been echoing from the different abodes of our esteemed elders, either in the collective declaration or individual affirmation of support for one of its own.
“It is one thing to sit behind closed doors and express assurances of solidarity, and quite another to speak publicly to shape the sentiments of the mass of society.
“Yes, there are times that silence is said to be golden. But some times are too momentous for the silence of the elderly.
“The number one man shouldn’t be the one speaking and defending himself, neither would the exertions of youthful voices suffice in the current circumstances.
“Beyond the spirited rebuttal from the “Onwa of Ibusa”, not much has been heard from other domains.
“Honestly, I am yet to understand the reason for this ominous silence from the political elders in Delta North.
“Could it be that what they are seeing from the innermost closets of their homes, I am unable to see from the visual range of my rooftop?
It would be recall that Senator Nwaoboshi, took on the governor over his statement on the gentleman agreement between the three districts which the governor affirmed exists but was not done in a former setting.
