Ahead of the governorship election in Delta State, political appointees, particularly Commissioners and top government functionaries of the Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa-led administration, trooped to the Asaba residence of the Chairman, Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Mr. Michael Diden, aka Ejele to openly declare their support for the Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly (DTHA), Sheriff Oborevwori, ‘Okowa’s anointed”.
Oboreivwori was accompanied by his Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon Ochor Christopher Ochor, Majority Leader, Hon. (Chief) Ferguson Onwo and other honorable members of the Delta State House of Assembly on a consultation visit to Delta Political Vanguard DPV at Asaba.
Also present, is the legislative arm of the state with the Speaker, Mr. Sheriff Oborevwori, who is one of the governorship aspirant in the state.
The Chief of Staff to Government House, Mr. Festus Agas, Pastor Powell, who acted as the Master of Ceremony (MC), the State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, Commissioner for Finance, Sir Fidelis Tilije, Managing Director, DESOPADEC, Askia Ogieh, the Executive Assistant to the Governor, Bureau of Orientation, Mr. Eugene Uzum.
Also present at the residence of the National Chairman, Delta Political Vanguard (DPV), were members of the House of Assembly, Board members and local government chairmen.
Their slogan is “Where Okowa go, we go” an indication that they are going where Okowa ask them.
Hon. Evang. Michael Diden, Chief Fidelis Tilije, Hon. Odio Bashorun Askia Ogieh and other leaders who spoke on behalf of DPV assured Mr Speaker Rt. Hon Sheriff Oboreivwori of their unwavering support while echoing the group Slogan on Okowa we Stand “Where Okowa we go”.
A source who spoke to The Story, under condition of anonymity, said: “Anybody campaigning for Delta State gubernatorial position in PDP is currently wasting his time. They should step down NOW.
“Only David Edevbie will go into the primaries with Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa ANOINTED choice in Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborowheri.
“Edevbie represents the Ibori’s political wing and Sheriff represents the Okowa political wing. Edevbie is alive to confirm that as far back as October 2021 in my apartment in Lagos, I told him Okowa has settled for Sheriff, hence he knew from Day One who his opponent is.
“Okowa is currently in Abuja for PDP NEC meeting tomorrow where he will sell his candidate in the person of Sheriff to the national body who will conduct the PDP primaries.
“I have spoken to the top persons that matters in PDP and Governor’s kitchen cabinet and there is no going back on Sheriff for this matter. Everyone including the closest person to the Governor has given instructions that Sheriff should be delivered as PDP candidate.
“KBO was only used as a distraction all these while as hos decoy to test Urhobo resolve. The only person that may be sacrificed is DOP Ifeanyi Eboigbe Deputy Governor slot” the source said.
It would be recall that Okowa had assured the party and Deltans that he would provide level playing ground for all aspirants, however the body language of the governor seemed to be teething towards the Speaker as his cabinet members are all dancing towards the Speaker.
