DTHA: Incumbent Nwaobi, Retains Seat

The incumbent member representing Aniocha North State Constituency in Delta State House of Assembly (DTHA), Hon. Engr. Emeka Nwaobi has won the House of Assembly primary election and subsequently emerged PDP candidate for the forthcoming general elections.

The entire local government was thrown into joyful dancing as Nwaobi’s victory was announced having scored 12 votes to emerge winner.

Meanwhile, his closest rival, Hon. Odinigwe Odigie scored 11 votes to emerge second.

Others are Engr. Fidel Onwodi with 7 votes and Mr. Jude Baadi with 2 votes, while 7 other aspirants got no votes at all.

In an interview with Hon. Nwaobi, he gave God all the glory for his deserved victory.

He said all the aspirants had earlier resolved that the election should be free, fair and credible, adding that the success and peace that predicated the election was designed and subsequently went as planned.

“I commend all other aspirants for their show of sportsmanship. It was their desire to serve that pushed them to purchase forms to contest. So I make bold to say that nobody lost; we all collectively won this election.

“We will work together to prosecute the main election and from there continue to advance Aniocha North Constituency. I want to also appreciate the delegates who in spite of all odds, kept faith with me and cast their votes for me”, Nwaobi said.

The Chairman of the PDP Electoral Committee, Hon. Okoh Friday adjudged the election as freest and fairest election in all elections he had supervised in the past.

He congratulated Hon. Emeka Nwaobi for emerging victorious, while also advising him to carry others along to secure victory for the PDP in the general election.

One of the Electoral Committee members, Olorogun Atiti Austin Ogheneovo affirmed that in his 20 years experience in supervising elections, this particular one was the first he was seeing a transparent election where all aspirants and agents were satisfied that the process was credible.

His words, “I want to advise Hon. Nwaobi to sincerely work with these other aspirants. It’s not always known in politics that immediately after a winner emerged, all the aspirants would move to congratulate him. I must commend him for this well deserved victory”, he posited.
