… As Three PDP Councillorship Candidates Emerged Unopposed, Massive Defection Hits APC

Although the Delta State local government election is yet to be conducted, the major opposition political party, All Progressives Congress (APC), has been defeated ahead of the election slated for March 6th 2021.

This is coming on the heels of massive and unprecedented support thrown behind the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) Candidates for the dividends of democracy brought by Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa-led administration to Okpanam kingdom, Oshimili north local government area of the state.

The people of Okpanam have unanimously resolved to reward the state governor for the good network of roads and other development projects in the town by giving one hundred percent votes to all candidates of the PDP in the forthcoming local government elections.

The Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Chief Patrick Ukah, disclosed this when the Oshimili north PDP Campaign Council  visited Ward 9 Okpanam.

Chief Ukah who hails from Okpanam said the Okowa administration in the last five years has transformed the rural community into an urban centre, stressing that the giant strides made members of the opposition parties in the area to declare support for the PDP thus resulting in the emergence of the three councillors from the ward as  unopposed in the election.

The Chairman of the PDP in Delta north Mr. Moses Iduh, said he was impressed with the support for candidates of the PDP in the local government and enjoined them to come out in their large numbers on March 6 to cast their votes.

He said the outstanding performance of Governor Okowa has given candidates of the PDP advantage over others as the dividends of democracy are in all parts of the state.

The Chairman of the Campaign Council who doubles as the Chief Whip of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Pat Ajudua said she was impressed with the resolve of the people of  Okpanam town  and the entire local government to deliver the party’s candidates and assured them of more dividends of democracy at the grassroots.

The Director-General (DG), of the Campaign Council and Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the governor Mr. Olisa Ifeajika said the turn out of supporters in all the wards was a clear indication that the present administration has done well and that the people were already working ahead for 2023.

The Oshimili north Chairmanship candidate of the PDP Mr. Innocent Esewezie thanked the people for their overwhelming support and pledged to work with all to fulfill electioneering campaign promises.

The Special Adviser to the governor on health Dr. Austin Obidi said the decamping of members of the APC into the PDP  in the local government was a pointer to the excellent performance of Governor Okowa in the state.

The Chairman of the PDP in Oshimili north Chief Nduka Ogude reaffirmed that the election was a pay back for an administration that gave every part of the state opportunity to be equal stakeholder in building a new Delta anchored on peace and all round development.

At the event, some members of the APC decamped to the PDP and were received by the Delta north chairman of the party Mr. Moses Iduh.

Some of the decampees said they were impressed with the performance of Governor Okowa hence the need to join in fasttracking development in the local government.
