Delta Community Gets First Democratically Elected Executives

Two weeks after Obiaruku Community Development Association (OCDA), election was stalled due to a petition sent to the headquarters of the Department of State Security (DSS), Asaba, by an anonymous person, the community has democratically put a leadership in place.

The election which was conducted on Sunday August 29th 2021, produced the President General (PG), Comr. Lucky Chukwuneku Allan Onyenachua (aka Allandee) was inaugurated at the Obiaruku community town hall.

During his brief speech before the inauguration, the immediate past caretaker/electoral committee chairman, Hon. Pedro Oshilim, thanked members of the newly elected executives for their perseverance and the confidence reposed on the caretaker/electoral committee members.

He enumerated some of the achievements recorded by the committee within the short period of it’s existence to include drafting of a new constitution and raising of a little fund for the takeoff of the incoming executive. He said the tenure of the executive members will be for 4years and the Obiaruku Youths President is now an unofficial member of the exco.

A member of the caretaker committee, Mr. Fred Esimobi implored the incoming executives to always work hand in hand with the Traditional Council of Chiefs for efficient running of the association.

The immediate past PG of OCDA, Engr. Lucky Esimike in his brief speech, pleaded with all sons and daughters of Obiaruku to register and join the association, rather than leaving it for some few individuals who are excos. He pleaded with the new executive members to see the traditional council of chiefs as a partner in progress in the development of Obiaruku.

In his acceptance speech and address on behalf of the executive, the new PG, Comr. Lucky Onyenachua thanked all members of the caretaker/electoral committee for job well done, members of OCDA and members of Obiaruku community for finding them worthy of the new assignment bestowed on them.

Comr. Onyenachua Lucky assured that their cardinal agenda will be the uplifting and development of Obiaruku community. He also used the opportunity to  reechoed their loyalty to the traditional council of chiefs. The new PG charged all Obiaruku sons and daughters to be members of the association in other to help in fostering development within Obiaruku, as he assured that they will continue to be good ambassadors of Obiaruku community at all times.

Speaking on behalf of the chiefs present, Magistrate Eze Amudo admonished the newly inaugurated executive members to always put the interest of the community above personal interests. He implored them to make sure they work in tandem with the traditional council of chiefs for the effective development of the community.

It would be recall that The Story, had reported the earlier proposed Obiaruku Community Development Association PG election slated to hold Sunday August 15th 2021, at the Obiaruku Community Town hall, Ukwuani local government area of Delta State ended in deadlock.

The election was then fixed for 22nd August 2021 but was later shifted and conducted on Sunday August 29th 2021.
