…Say PDP will takeover Nigeria in 2023
Ahead of the governorship election in Delta State, delegates under the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), have been charged to queue behind traditional rulers in Delta State led by the Asagba of Asaba, Obi Prof. Chike Edozien, on senatorial rotation.
The delegates were equally urged to throw their weight behind Delta Central Senatorial District whose slot it is to produce the successor of the incumbent governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa come 2023.
The charge was given on Thursday March 3rd 2022, by prominent gubernatorial hopeful in the state, Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi, during a consultative visits to Local Government Executive (LGA), in Oshimili south and Oshimili north, Aniocha south and Aniocha north local government areas of the state.
He called on delegates and other stakeholders in Delta north to support the Asagba of Asaba, Obi Prof. Chike Edozien, on the need for power to shift to Delta Central Senatorial District, noting “We believe very fervently what we call the rules of zoning”.
The philanthropist tasked the delegates not to allow their votes to be wasted rather they should use their power to bring him onboard to continue in the legacies Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, the seating governor, has built in the last seven years across the state.
“Just as you have chosen your best in the person of Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, the best we are going to have in 24 years. Among all that will come to you, choose me so I can build on what this governor has done. I don’t have anything that anybody will hold against me just as anybody will not hold anything against Okowa. I will not do anything less than what Dr. Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa has done in Delta State.
“Thanks to the Asagba of Asaba. He corrected what was supposed to be a misnomer. Support the Asagba of Asaba and the traditional rulers of Delta north, support Delta Central and support every reasonable person for power to rotate to Delta Central. It will by the grace of God come back to Delta Central”, stressing that it is practically impossible for anybody in the side of Chief Ibori, to say they would want to be governor now.
“When you sit down, think of your children and grandchildren, your fathers and mothers. The end result of your 20 minutes vote can take this State to higher level or bring it down. My first arrangement is to emancipate our youths from the street. Maximum of one year after I am being sworn in as governor. Okowa has taken so much pains to build this house called Delta, he will not handover the state to anyone that will destroy Delta.
“We have tried three governors. Asaba was not a capital before now but now Asaba is a capital. What this governor has done, is that he has changed the narrative. Today, we know that there’s a government in Delta State. Okowa is not being looked for by the police, SSS, or EFCC. Were you to bring a successor who is not like him, that means you have brought down everything that he has done.
“The reason this State has progressed in the last seven years, is because the governor is not a criminal. Don’t bring criminal into the state by your own hands.The pain will be greater on you people than me if you allow somebody who cannot build on top of what Okowa has done. It will bite you people more. Anybody who wants to takeover from Okowa must be sound and must build on the legacies Okowa has built.
“If they believe in the state as I believed in it, let them come and show you what they have done. I want to plead with you people that use the power that you have every eight years wisely and partner with me.
“The only option that you have is to look through the delegates and chose. You have one day in eight years to decide the fate of your children. I believe that this State need to climb. Okowa knows me one on one, he knows what I stand for. The kind of government I am going to bring is for you to join hands with me and eradicate our youths from the street”, saying when he takeover from Okowa, he would open his brain box to roll out his plans for the state.
Gbagi, warned further that they should not allow ex-prisoners, people with questionable character, aspirants on wanted list to govern Delta, “It is about time for us to be wise. Look at what Okowa has been able to do in the past seven years. You people should not make mistake because if you take a questionable person to take over from Okowa, you will be the one to suffer it”, he warned.
While noting that a lot of people would come to meet with them to woo their votes, he said “ask them who is your father? What have you done in Delta that our children and children yet unborn would benefit from?
“People will come to meet you that they want to be governor, ask them where is your industry? If you take a wrong decision, you will have to live with it for another eight years. As you people have produced your own which is the best so far, join hands to produce me from Delta Central.
The Industrialist while charging them to exercise the delegate power wisely, said: “I know what to do to turn the economy. I have already made job for all the youths in Delta. I will emerge as the next governor of Delta State. When we takeover, you will see the value of good money.
Meanwhile, Gbagi, who predicted victory for the PDP at the central hinted: “PDP will takeover Nigeria in 2023. The seat of government, is being controlled by PDP. It is a sign”, he added.
Responding, the PDP LGA Chairmen of Oshimili south Ogbueshi Dada Okonji, his counterpart in Oshimili north, Chief Nduka Ogwude Aniocha north, Hon. Dr. Charles Ochei and Aniocha south, Hon. Prince Mike Okwufulueze, expressed satisfaction on the praises the prominent gubernatorial hopeful heaped on the State governor, Dr. Okowa, for his developmental stride across the state.
“The PDP is your party which you are the founding father. We have heard all what you have said. We pray that by the grace of God, he will finish strong. And finishing strong is handing over to a man that will do more than what he has done.
“Where he says we are going that is where we are going. We are waiting for his direction.
“We are delighted that you have promised that when you become the governor, you are going to do more. Our people says that it is not their ears that listen. It is the ears inside that listen. Continue with what you are doing, you have a lot of work to do among the leaders of the party.
“I want to declare sir, that you are an ardent of Okowa, a student of Okowa and a business man that can turn nothing to something. If you are allow to rule Delta State, you can imagine how everywhere will be, it will like today’s bread.
“In our report, we will boldly write that you are a supporter of Okowa. It means if you step in, you will start from where he stopped. You can turn Delta State to an industrial hub. On Okowa we stand.
“Our prayers is for Okowa to pick the right person to takeover from him and we pray that you are the person. You have spoken well. The only thing we owe you is prayers”, Okwufulueze, declared.
