Brief Profile:
Distinguished Senator James Manager was born July 1960 at Ogbein-ama,. He also hails from Ogriagbene, all in Bomadi LGA of Delta State.
A lawyer by profession, Senator James Manager was elected senator representing the Peoples’ Democratic Party in the Delta South Senatorial District of Delta State in 2003.
The ranking Senator was a teacher at Ogriagbene, before joining the legal firm of Broderick Bozimo & Co (1988 – 1990).
His Political Career:
Sen. James Manager was Chairman of Bomadi LGA (1991-1999). He was Hon. Commissioner for Social Development (1992 -1993), Chairman GDM (1996 – 1998), State Chairman PDP (1998 – 1998) and Commissioner Works, Housing and Transport (1999 2003).
He served in the Works committee, Niger Delta committee and Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters committee in the Senate.
In May 2009, he raised the issue of the damage caused by the continued military bombardment of communities in the oil-rich Gbaramatu clan, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, leading to a senate resolution urging their Committee on Defence and Army to take action.
Senator James Manager is instrumental to the construction several projects in his constituency including the all important Bomadi and Esama bridges under James Ibori, roads and street lights in his communities – Ogbein-ama and Ogriagbene. He has also awarded several scholarships to several indigent students.
Senator James Manager is a silent achiever and a fighter for the Niger Delta. His singular effort has led to the passage of the bill on the Maritime University, Okerenkoko in Gbaramatu Kingdom. In recognition of his dugged efforts toward the passage of this all important bill by the Senate, he is therefore, honoured.
