Ex-minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Elder Godsday Orubebe, has prayed that leading governorship aspirant in Delta State, Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi, would find favour with the State governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa and leaders of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), in the state.
Orubebe, offered the prayers when his colleague, former minister of education, paid him a consultative visit at his Ogbobagbene, Burutu local government area of the state.
The former Niger Delta Affairs minister, why praying fervently for Okowa, to see what he has seen ahead of the primaries of the party and the election, said: “It is only Kenneth Gbagi, who has succeed as a private man in business and who did very well as a minister. When we were ministers, we wanted the best for Nigeria, we made sacrifice for Nigeria, we were not sleeping.
“It is my prayer that God will grant the governor the foresight and wisdom to see and know the right thing to do and bring in leaders of this state to do the right thing.
“Let God put your spirit in his (governor) heart and in the hearts of the leaders of this State so that they will see your capacity and your passion to develop this state.
“You did it as a federal minister, it has never happened in the history of this country, where Universities, Colleges of Education and Polytechnic are created in same day. It has never happened in Nigeria, from 1960 till date.
Orubebe, who throw his weight behind Gbagi, disclosed: “Today, when I said it is the turn of the Urhobo, they say Orubebe, why are you saying so?
“It is the turn of the Urhobo people. So Ijaw people will come after eight years and we are going to prepare some of the young men and women here to take over from you.
“I have seen most of the aspirants. The only person that has been in the executive position that has performed is only Kenneth Gbagi, all other rest are either working for somebody, learning from somebody or running errands to people.
“It is only Kenneth Gbagi, who has succeed as a private man in business and who did very well as a minister”, he added.
