A former Woman Leader of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Mrs. Georgina Evah, has declared that there is no zoning in the forthcoming elections in Burutu local government area of Delta State.
Evah, who is an Executive Assistant to the state Governor on Women Affairs, stressed that all aspirants should go to the election field to test their popularity.
The PDP chieftain stated this when she played host to members of the Burutu Credibility Front led by its Coordinator, Darlington Owan earlier in the week.
She maintained that there had never been a time the leadership of the PDP in Burutu sat down to discuss zoning arrangement for the Burutu Federal Constituency seat.
While insisting that power belongs to God, Evah, declared that all aspiring candidates will have their antecedents put to the test in a bid to ensure that the PDP fields sellable candidates.
Reacting to the calls for zoning the Green Chamber seat, Georgina said “all that is just mere talk. Every aspirant should prepare themselves and go to the field. Go and test your popularity.
“There will be no smooth ride for anybody this time as all aspirants would be judged by their credibility and performances in times past.
“Only those who have done well in the past will be considered for a sensitive such as the House of Representatives seat,” she said.
Evah also threw her weight behind the calls for Burutu to be given two commissioner slots by the Delta State Government.
She said Burutu is deserving of two commissioners as the Council is first a Federal Constituency, and also has two State Constituencies.
The former House of Assembly aspirant also made the amount of work put in by Burutu as a pointer to be treated fairly by the Delta State Government.
The Burutu Federal Constituency seat is currently occupied by Julius Pondi, who has already declared to run for a third term at the Green Chambers.
