Largest private industrialist cum leading governorship aspirant in the 2023 governorship race in Delta State, Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi, has reiterated that he would make the state an industrial hub if elected governor.
The former Minister of Education, gave the assurance on Wednesday February 9th 2022, when he consulted the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) LGA Chairman,
Comrade Efe Okonedo, his Vice, Chief Mrs. Dame Rose Oghene, Ward chairmen and other stakeholders at the party Secretariat in Effurun, Uvwie local government area of the state.
Olorogun Gbagi, who is known for his entrepreneurial prowess, disclosed that if given the opportunity to succeed the incumbent, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, he would bring his wealth of knowledge and expertise, to turn the state to Dubai.
Assuring further of his determination to change the narrative, Gbagi, one of the founding fathers of the PDP, pointed out, the local governments council, would become a city to reckon with in state under his administration.
“We must develop this state and it starts with your choices. My finger print is here in Uvwie, my hotel, plaza, cinemas and other investments are here. “We must develop the state and the development of the state starts with your choice of who becomes Governor, come 2023”,
He solicited for support to make his governorship ambition a dream come through, revealing that his aspiration to govern the state at a time like this, is to eradicate poverty and create job opportunities for the teeming youths.
According to him, as part of his developmental plans of Uvwie, he established Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Ugbomro and stopped the planned relocation of Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) from Effurun in the council area to Kaduna State as recommended by Lukman Rilwanu, the then Minister of Petroleum Resources of blessed memory while he held sway as former education minister.
While noting that other governorship aspirants would come to seek for their votes, he charged them to ask salient questions about their investments, saying “this is not what Uwvie was 25 years ago, there was food, money and businesses, We have to build this state together.”
He said: “Some people believe in lies, they will come and tell you lies then ask him, where are your investments? Where have you worked before? What have you put on the ground that will support my grandchildren?
“Let him show you the evidence. So don’t sit down here for somebody who EFCC is pursuing. You know social media more than me. EFCC is pursuing them, you are aware and you want such person to be your governor.
“At the appropriate time, if PDP makes mistake and such person becomes governor, they will lift the records. APC, God forbids, will become a party to reckon with. Money is sweet but we should be flexible to make sure that what is upmost in our minds should be the development of our cities and towns.
“Nobody amongst us who says he wants to be governor today is less than 50 years. And if by 50 years you have not taken a linage as to what you believed and what you believed ought to have been steering at you as we speak and what I believed is that, I believed in Uvwie. I have shown with time that I believed in Uvwie”, he added
Earlier, Comrade Okonedo, assured: “We will come out with a decision, you are sagacious, you have experience and contacts to govern Delta State”.
While praying for Gbagi to succeed, he commended members of the Gbagi Solidarity Movement just as he said Gbagi, has done well in state, urging him and the campaign team to continue peacefully.
